For the graduation collection "ROOTS", the designer of the British Higher School of Art and Design Maria Krasnaya creates a collection about her roots and memories.

The collection tells the viewer about the designer's homeland, Minsk, Belarus, and reminds the viewer of the importance of not forgetting and loving your place. The collection is inspired by the spirit and nostalgia for their country. Maria tells the importance of not forgetting your home. She uses archival photographs for inspiration. The girl in bows in old photos inspires the creator to research this topic and different techniques for making these bows. She finds the old Soviet way of folding the fabric, which will later be used in the collection. Maria finds  a way of gathering fabrics in order to convey the national spirit of the collection. She uses a manual method of gathering the fabric.

The forms used in the project are very laconic and feminine, which emphasizes the style and mood of the collection. One of the strengths of the collection is its texture. The unique method of punching the fabric with a felling machine resembles a tapestry or carpet, although the fabric is used light to give the fabric a thick feel. The collection also uses folds in different variations. The inspiration for them was the old castles in Belarus with spiral staircases and old windows. For the collection, we used light, flying fabrics, lace, fabric of her own production and the technique of gathering fabric. All these textures look harmonious and create the atmosphere of the collection, conveying the emotions and mood of Maria Krasnaya.
